FrequentlyAsked Questions
What is TapTunes™?
TapTunes™ is a modern, tangible way to sell your music. You put your songs on NFC Tap Music Cards that fans can tap with their phone to play instantly—no app required.
How do the Tap Music Cards work?
Each card has an NFC chip (same tech as tap-to-pay). A fan taps the card on their phone and your release opens and plays in the browser.
Do fans need to download an app?
No. Tap-to-play works right in the phone’s native browser.
Which phones are compatible?
Virtually all modern smartphones with NFC (iPhone and Android). On iPhone, tap near the top edge; on many Android phones, tap near the back center.
How many songs can I include?
Up to 12 MP3 tracks per card release.
What audio formats do you accept?
MP3 (recommended). If you have WAV/AIFF, convert to MP3 (320 kbps suggested) before upload.
What artwork specs do you recommend?
Square cover art (e.g., 1200×1200 px PNG/JPG), high contrast, and minimal small text for best print/readability. Download the template from the Wizard.
How do I set this up?
Use the TapTunes Wizard: upload up to 12 MP3s, add your cover art, confirm details, choose a package, and checkout. Done in minutes.
What does it cost?
The Starter Pack is $99 and includes 25 cards. Reorders are as low as $2.75 per card.
How much can I sell cards for?
You set the price—most artists charge $10–$20 per card or bundle with other merch. You keep the margin.
What’s the turnaround time?
Production is fast. Exact timing depends on quantity and finish options; we confirm ETA at checkout.
Is there a minimum order?
Starter Pack includes 25 cards. Reorders can scale to your needs (small runs to large tours).
Can I do multiple designs or editions?
Yes. You can create limited editions (tour dates, cities, special artwork) and reorder anytime.
Do TapTunes cards work offline?
Tapping requires a data connection to play. Most venues have cellular coverage; consider venue Wi-Fi for poor reception areas.
What if a card doesn’t tap?
Try a slower tap and hold for a second, move to the phone’s NFC hotspot (top on iPhone; center/back on many Androids), or open the fallback QR (if printed) as a backup.
Are the cards durable?
Yes. They’re far more durable than discs—no scratches or skipping. Store away from strong magnets and extreme heat.
Can I sign the cards at shows?
Absolutely. Artists often autograph cards—fans love the keepsake.
Can brands/labels use TapTunes?
Yes—TapTunes is great for promo drops, VIP gifts, and retail bundles.
What makes TapTunes different from CDs/vinyl/streaming?
CDs: few fans have drives.
Vinyl: beloved but pricey/heavy and niche.
Streaming: convenient but pays pennies.
TapTunes: affordable, instantly playable, and something fans can hold—with pricing you control.
Is the technology protected?
Our integrated system and process are unique—patents pending.
